We just released version 1.3.3 of News Booth. Some bug fixes and new themes in the in app store added.
iPad retina support and larger image size
The new version of News Booth includes support for the new iPad retina screen. In our opinion, the GUI now looks amazing on the new iPad!
Also, the images created have doubled in size, from 1024 x 576 to 2048 x 1152. Actually, that’s four times the size of the original image size.
News Booth for iPad
News Booth is now available for iPad. Download it for free at http://itunes.apple.com/app/news-booth/id497958062?mt=8
1.2 is now available
Version 1.2 of News Booth is now live in the Apple App Store. Check it out at http://itunes.apple.com/app/news-booth/id497958062?mt=8. This version includes new themes and lots of bug fixes. Hope you’ll like it!
News Booth for $0.99 or in-app purchases?
What would you prefer? To pay $0.99 for the entire News Booth app, or pay $0.99 for upcoming themes – or rather collections with themes/theme packs – in the app, while the app itself remains free? Themes already available in the app will not cost anything, of course.
At the moment, News Booth is free, but starting February 27, the price will be $0.99. At least that was the original plan. But maybe in-app purchases is the way to go?
What do our users think? Give us some feedback in the comments!
About photos and user location
Why does News Booth need your location to access your photos? Any app that want to access the photos on an iOS device, need permission to access the location of the device, as well. This is because all photos on an iPhone, iPad or iPod includes information on when and where the photo was taken. If the user denies the app this information, the app won’t be able to access the photos either.
This is why you will receive a message saying that you need to turn on location services for the News Booth app when trying to select a photo from your gallery, if location services for some reason is off.
News Booth does NOT in any way use this location information, we only require it so that you will be able to select photos in the app. Requiring location services is unfortunately not something we can avoid, if we wish to offer this functionality, as it is built into the iOS operating system.
We’re live!
The News Booth app has finally been approved by Apple, and is now available for download in the App Store. It’s free until February 26th, so make sure you grab a copy before we raise the price! Get it here.

Waiting for approval
The first version of our News Booth app was sent to Apple for approval a couple of days ago. Hopefully, it shouldn’t take too long for them to say “OK” and publish it in the App Store. Rest assured that we will let you know when that happens!
However, we are already making plans for future updates. What they will bring in terms of new functionality is something we will get back to in another post, in the near future. Until then, if you have any suggestions or feedback in general, do let us know and we will try to incorporate it in the next version, or shortly there after.
